There are no accurate statistics but there are tens of thousands of children living on the streets in Lagos, with an estimated 10.5million children that are out-of-school in Nigeria.
Child Life Line has been providing care for street children in Lagos for over 20 years!
Established in 1994, the association registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 1996
Presently, the association has a residential home for 20 boys, ages 6-17 years located in Ibeshe, Ikorodu and a drop in Reception Centre at Ifako, Gbagada that sees an average of 90 boys and girls a week, coming in everyday for a meal, a chance to take a bath, rest, have basic medical check up and basic literacy education as well as skills training.
The goal of CLL is ultimately to reunite these street children with their family units and the outreach programs subsequently provides financial and moral support that we hope will enable these children remain in those settings.
CLL sponsor children through school: higher education and apprenticeships and we are proud to have graduates among our alumni.
This year, our projects are:
- Expand the facilities of our Boy’s dormitory to house 30 boys- This project is presently being sponsored by another organization
- Build a larger vocational training centre to offer more training opportunities to more boys. The project cost is 5 million naira. The money raised by the DASH 2015 campaign will help provide more street children with the opportunity to acquire economic skills that will ensure they do not end up on the street
The association is entirely funded by voluntary donations and gifts.
